Vintage 1960s Single Opal 18ct Gold Ring

This is a really lovely and sentimental single white opal ring set in 18ct yellow gold. We believe this was a special commission.  It has engraving on the inside of the shank for 'Hamish' (a masculine name, Scottish for James) and the date 1.2.61

UK/AU/NZ: Size K

US/CA size 5 1/4

As these rings are rare and vintage, you may find that sometimes they don't come in the ring size that you are looking for. We suggest try wearing them on other fingers where they may fit. Alternatively we can offer a resizing service for a reasonable extra charge (please contact us directly). Most local jewellers also offer this service. Most rings can usually be resized 1-2 sizes up or down, depending on the design / condition.

Stones: A single, large white opal stone measuring 18mm x 13mm

Weight: 6.05 grams

Era / Hallmark: 18 ct gold, 1961

Condition: Excellent.  The opal is set in a half claw, half bezel colette setting (really unique).  There is very light movement of the opal within the setting but despite this it is still very secure.

What I love about this ring:  It really appears to me like a specially commissioned design, which I really love.  Personalised engravings in vintage pieces are always a lovely touch and it's really special when we acquire one.

As with most vintage jewellery, this is rare and unique. This will come to you presented in our branded box - ready to gift to yourself or to someone special.
